Lancashire FA Women’s County Leagues Return With A Bang

The sides in the Lancashire FA Women’s Leagues have returned with a bang after the Christmas break.

In the Premier Division leaders Colne lost 3-5 to Bolton Wanderers on Sunday, January 7, as GT7 Academy closed the gap with a 7-1 win at home to Clitheroe Wolves.

Accrington Stanley picked up a 0-9 at bottom side Sir Tom Finney and Burnley Belvedere lost 1-2 at home to Chorley.

Cumbria’s sides are on the road as Stanwix head to Bolton Wanderers while GT7 travel to Chorley on Sunday, January 14, as Wigan Athletic could go top at home to Sir Tom Finney and Blackpool face Burnley Belvedere.

Wigan Athletic moved into second in the Championship with a 6-3 win over Preston North End on January 7 as Penrith AFC beat Fleetwood Town Wrens 4-1 to move three points clear of them.

Heading to Fleetwood Town Wrens Wigan Athletic look to close the gap to Whitehaven AFC on January 14 as Horwich St Mary’s will want to do the same at home to Blackburn Eagles as will Euxton at home to Lancaster City.

Penrith AFC will want to take all the points from their game at bottom side Bolton County.

In Division One North/West Rosegrove moved into top spot with a 4-0 win over Sir Tom Finney on January 7 while Blackpool Town won their first game of the season with a 3-2 win over Morecambe.

Rosegrove head to second placed Chipping with the winner taking top spot on January 14 as third placed Sir Tom Finney face Lostock and fourth placed Abbeytown travel to Morecambe.

Bottom club Blackpool Town host St Annes while Kendal Town head to Cadley.

Leaders Lostock St Gerards return to action on January 14 at home to Langho while second placed Euxton head to Radcliffe FC.

The Blackburn clubs battle it out as Blackburn Eagles host Blackburn Community and AFC Wigan host Penwortham Town.
