Cumbria Police is investigating a series of burglaries in Carlisle that occurred overnight and appealing for information.
On the evening of Monday, January 8, and in the early hours of January 9, officers received reports of burglaries at properties and two takeaways in the area of Scotland Road and Rigg Street
Entry has been forced to the properties and businesses with cash having been taken during one of the incidents.
The incident on Scotland Road occurred between 4pm and 7pm and the incident on Rigg Street reported at around 1am yesterday.
Detective are appealing for residents in the areas who may have any CCTV, doorbell camera or vehicle dash-camera footage, to contact police.

Police would like to remind residents to be vigilant and ensure when they leave their houses to lock all doors and windows, install CCTV or video doorbells if possible and leave lights on where they can.
Patrols are being increased in the area to deter offenders and help prevent further burglaries.

- Lock doors and windows before you go out and ensure that your house/business and keys are secure.
- Remove keys from locks and keep them out of reach, not on a hall table, hiding any vehicle keys in a secure place.
- Ensure side gates and sheds are locked with a good quality lock.
- Keep cash and valuables locked away safe or well hidden.
- Consider increasing your security with good quality locks, CCTV and chains.
