Egremont Boxer Looks To Best European Competition

Egremont Amateur Boxing Club is looking for support as Billie Donaldson heads to Sweden for The Golden Girl Championship.

Started in 2009, The Golden Girl Championship brings together boxers from across Europe with England’s Hannah Beharry (2009) and Jem Campbell (2020, 2022) winning the competition.

Joining Egremont ABC Donaldson has had four contests for the club winning three and losing one on a split decision to an opponent who has now turned professional.

One of those wins was at the Winter Box Cup in Leigh where a second round stoppage gave Donaldson the gold medal.

With women’s boxing a growing sport the club explained its decision to travel to Sweden saying: “One of the most dedicated boxers we have, she’s improving all the time and it’s hard to get women fights so we have entered her into this box cup in Boras, Sweden which is the biggest in Europe for females.”

To support the trip the club has asked the local community for support with Bounty Competitions, The Whittington Cat and others coming forward.

Anyone interest in supporting can get in touch with the club by messaging their Facebook page or ring 07562 045 371.

Boxing fans will be able to see Donaldson in action as The Golden Girl Boxing Competition live stream the bouts here.

Now into the New Year the club is relaunching its classes at the Cons Club with Ladies Only sessions on Tuesday and Thursday 6-7 with the first two on Thursday 4 and Tuesday 9 free.
