Cumbria’s Rugby Union Sides Return To League Action After Snow Blocks Season Progress

All rugby union teams in Cumbria fell to the extreme weather that blocked cut of parts of the north west.

The extreme weather in the north west put a halt to all the games in Regional 1 North West on Saturday, December 2.

Leaders Rossendale head to Leek on Saturday, December 9, while Blackburn host Sandbach and Macclesfield play Wirral.

Two of the chasing pack face off as Kendal welcome Manchester, Anselmains play Northwich and Penrith host Stockport.

The teams in Regional 2 North have to wait another week with all games on Saturday, December 2, postponed due to the extreme weather.

Percy Park take on Cockermouth on Saturday, December 9, while Northern face a tough test at Middlesbrough as Aspatria welcome Stockton.

Keswick are on the road to Durham City as Upper Eden travel to West Hartlepool and Consett take on Morpeth.

One game beat the cold in Regional 2 North West on Saturday, December 2, as Douglas (I.O.M) ran out 24-17 winners over Winnington Park.

The league returns on Saturday, December 9, with leaders Birkenhead Park hosting Whitchurch as second placed Bowden take on Vale of Lune and third placed Crewe & Nantwich play Liverpool St Helens.

Kirkby Lonsdale travel to Douglas (I.O.M) as Firwood Waterloo face Winnington Park and Altrincham Kersal make the trip to Burnage.

In the Cumbria league all the games fell one way or another on Saturday, December 2, the weather caused chaos around the county.

The only game to have a result was Carlisle against Millom but this was due to the visitors being unable to field a team giving Carlisle a home win.

The sides are back in action on Saturday, December 9, as Carlisle head to second placed St Benedicts as Whitehaven travel to Aspatria 2nd looking to take advantage while Wigton host Windermere.

Workington welcome Egremont while Millom face Creighton and Hawcoat Park have been awarded their game against Penrith 2nd.
