Egremont’s Original Factory Shop has made an ‘incredible’ donation to North Lakes Foodbank thanks to customers with club cards.

In a post on social media, the Tofs store explained that thanks to customers swiping their club cards and scanning their apps while shopping, the shop raised £409.16 for the foodbank charity.

In the post the store thanked their customers and wished the foodbank ‘every success’ as they continue to support people in the area.

They said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to all of our customers who have scanned their club app, swiped their club cards, bought a shopping bag or made a donation in store.

“Thanks to your generosity we have been able to make a donation of £409.16 to North Lakes Foodbank From all of us at The Original Factory Shop Egremont we wish them every success.”

North Lakes Foodbank helps individuals and families in crisis, through the provision of emergency food supplies. Speaking to The Herdwick News, North Lakes Foodbank manager, Fiona Kerr, called the donation is ‘incredible’ and thanked everyone at the Original Factory Store for their ‘year round’ support.

“We are very grateful for the recent donation from the Original Factory Shop in Egremont of £409.16” she said, “They are a big supporter of ours and collect food for us all year round with their donation point in-store. To know that every time a customer swipes their loyalty club card in the Original Factory Shop, money is raised for North Lakes Foodbank is just incredible.

“They are big supporters of ours and and are very generous with donations of both food and non-food donations, such as toiletries and self-care products. They keep us at the forefront of their thoughts all year round and help us with our work in the community helping those most in need with food parcels and crisis support.”

Fiona also explained the vital need for the continuation of donations and said in the run up to Christmas they are in most need of:

• long-life fruit juice
• UHT milk (whole or semi-skimmed only)
• UHT sponge puddings (not from the fridge section)
• jam/marmalade/honey
