Haverigg Cricket Club have announced their professional for the 2024 Premier Division campaign.

Indian all rounder Akshay Chandran will be heading to the south Cumbrian team for the summer.

Announced on social media Haverigg’s club captain Drew Postlewaite said: “I’m delighted Akshay will be joining us for the 2024 season. He is a genuine allrounder capable of helping us win games with both bat and ball.

“Having a left hand top order bat and slow left arm bowler will compliment what we already have very well.

“It’s also evident in the league over the past few seasons that spin away from bat is very successful, add this to Akshay’s ability to score runs all round the ground, I feel we’ve made an excellent signing for next season and can’t wait to see him in action for us already.”

Chandran plays in the top division of Indian cricket for Kerala with a top score of 150 and average of over 33 and had best bowling figures of 6 wickets for 39 runs.

The club also extended it thanks to WSX Cricket’s Rob Humphries who help Haverigg secure Chandran.
