Cumbria’s Rugby Union Sides Set For Return To League Action

After a weekend off the norths rugby Union sides are getting ready for a return to league action and Cumbria’s sides are involved in some big games.

Blackburn are now the only unbeaten team left in Regional 1 North West after a 38-80 win at Kendal on Saturday, October 21, as Rossendale moved into joint second with Macclesfield after beating them 36-60.

Penrith almost picked up their first win of the season against Leek but missed out 21-27 while Sandbach lost 27-20 at Stockport as Anselmians went down 14-27 to Wirral while Manchester won 29-18 Northwich.

After a week off the sides return to league action on Saturday, November 4, as Blackburn host Penrith, Rossendale take on Stockport and Macclesfield travel to Leek.

Kendal are on the road to Anselmians as bottom club Sandbach face Manchester and Wirral play Northwich.

Percy Park continued their strong start in Regional 2 North with a 52-24 win against West Hartlepool on Saturday, October 21, while Middlesbrough beat Consett 38-17 and Durham City lost 15-14 to Stockton.

Moving into third are Northern after a 50-14 win over Upper Eden while in the Cumbrian derby Cockermouth were beaten 12-41 by Keswick as Aspatria jumped into fourth after a 24-21 victory at home to Morpeth in the later kickoff.

Cumbrian sides face off with Upper Eden hosting winless Cockermouth on Saturday, November 4, while Aspatria head to Consett with Keswick travelling to Stockton.

Leaders Percy Park make the trip to Durham City as West Hartlepool play Middlesbrough and Morpeth face Northern in the later kickoff.

There are new leaders in the Regional 2 North West after the top two meet on Saturday, October 21, as Crewe & Nantwich lost 19-35 to new leaders Birkenhead Park while Bowden jumped back into second with a 38-25 victory against Winnington Park and Firwood Waterloo took third after beating Altrincham Kersal 71-19.

Kirkby Lonsdale were beaten 17-24 by Whitchurch as Douglas (I.O.M) launched themselves up the table with a 33-10 win over Burnage and Liverpool St Helens game with Vale of Lune was postponed.

Table toppers Birkenhead Park host Douglas (I.O.M) with Bowden facing Crewe & Nantwich on Saturday, November 4, as Firwood Waterloo head to Burnage.

Vale of Lune make the trip to Winnington Park while Liverpool St Helens travel to Whitchurch and Altrincham Kersal welcome Kirkby Lonsdale.

Carlisle have gone four points clear at the top of Cumbria league on Saturday, October 21, with a 19-44 win at Wigton while St Benedicts lost 13-19 to Hawcoat Park as Whitehaven moved up to third with a 31-38 win at Millom.

Creighton’s 27-26 win against Workington moved them up to fifth and Windermere picked up their first win of the season beating Keswick 2nd 12-19.

Carlisle make the trip to Workington on Saturday, November 4, while second placed St Benedicts host Millom and Aspatria 2nd welcome Wigton.

Egremont return to action at Whitehaven and Keswick 2nd take on Hawcoat Park.
