After being closed for a year Whitehaven pub, The Three Tuns, is set to reopen as a ‘passionate team’ has taken over.

New owners have revamped this ‘beloved establishment’, with its doors set to open again on Friday, November 3.

Jordan Atkinson, one of the owners, spoke to The Herdwick News, saying reopening The Three Tuns is all about ‘ preserving the traditions’ and ‘infusing it with fresh energy’.

He said: “The pub has been taken over by a passionate team with deep ties to the community. We decided to take on this venture because we believe in preserving this beloved establishment’s traditions while infusing it with fresh energy.

“Our approach has been to maintain the classic charm that The Three Tuns is known for while adding a modern touch to enhance the experience for our valued patrons. We want it to feel like a welcoming homecoming for our regulars. We are incredibly excited about the reopening and can’t wait to welcome everyone back.”

Jordan explained that one of the goals the new team has is to provide a ‘welcoming space where positive vibes are at the forefront’ and create a place where people can escape’.

“One of our key goals is to create a positive, uplifting environment at The Three Tuns,” he said. “We want our customers to not only enjoy great drinks and good company but also find solace in a welcoming space where positive vibes are at the forefront.

“It’s all about nurturing a sense of community and providing a place where people can escape the pressures of the outside world. We believe that this positive mindset will be a driving force behind our journey.”

The team boast of having put a lot of care into preserving the charm of the Whitehaven pub but giving it a fresh look.

The interior has been refurbished to ‘create a warm, welcoming atmosphere that still feels like the classic Three Tuns’, also patrons can expect to see new decor that ‘pays homage to the pub’s rich history and its rock ‘n’ roll legacy’, Jordan explained.

Overall, the facilities have been improved and the team ‘can’t wait’ to welcome everyone back after its closure in 2022. In a TikTok video (above) Jordan gave viewers a walk-through of the pub.

Just three months after reopening last year, it was confirmed the pub would close in October 2022, due to noise complaints.

On this previous issue, Jordan said: “Noise complaints and soundproofing challenges are issues that we’ve carefully considered in planning the reopening of The Three Tuns. While we understand the importance of maintaining a peaceful neighbourhood, we’ve taken steps to address any sound-related concerns.

“Our aim is to balance the vibrancy of the pub with the peace of the community, and we’ve invested in soundproofing solutions to ensure that everyone can coexist harmoniously. We’re committed to being a considerate and responsible part of the neighbourhood.”
