Cumbria Fire & Rescue Adds First Woman To Egremont Roll Of Honour Board

Cumbria Fire and Rescue has added the first female firefighter’s name to the Egremont station roll of honour board.

Egremont Fire Station confirmed on social media today, Tuesday, October 17, that Heather Weatherill is the first woman to be added to their honour board.

Fire Officer, David McDowell, explained Firefighter Weatherill was added to the board as all employees of Egremont Fire Station are.

Fire Officer McDowell said: “It’s a proud moment in the history of Egremont Fire Station.”

Although the Roll of Honour Board was created in 2017 to give recognition to all serving and past members of the team, names go all the way back to 1861 making Cap. W.I Towerson the first name on the board.
