Barrow Raiders Ladies Promoted To Women’s Super League

Barrow Raiders Ladies have been promoted to the Women’s Super League after a thrilling playoff final.

Barrow Raiders took on Leigh Leopards at the LNER Community Stadium on Sunday, October 8, as part of a double header as York Valkyrie beat Leeds Rhinos in the Grand Final.

It was a close first half with a Jodie Litherland penalty sending the Raiders in with a 2-0 lead.

Two early Leigh tries put them 2-8 up before the Raiders struck back with tries from Beth Lindsey and Jodie Morley as Litherland added the extras to take them out to 14-8 and victory.

Going into the playoff final it was one win apiece with Leigh Leopards beating the Raiders 0-14 while losing 12-14 at home to them.

The side can look back on a successful season with two big victories over Bradford Bulls including a 62-0 win in the playoff semifinal.

Next year the Raiders will be facing some of the iconic names of rugby league with Wigan Warriors, Leeds Rhinos and St Helens along with this seasons double winners York Valkyrie as the league increases to eight teams.
