Return To League Action In The North West Women’s Regional Football League For Cumbrian Sides

After a break for the FA Cup sides in the North West Women’s Regional Football League return to action.

The Premier Division took a break on Sunday, October 1, as the Vitality FA Cup rolled round.

Returning to action on Sunday, October 8, leaders Darwen FC host Bury FC while Tranmere take on Salford City and Cheadle Town head to Blackpool FC.

Curzon Ashton play Crewe Alexandra and Fleetwood Town face Blackburn Community.

In Division One North there were three games scheduled to be played however Carlisle United Ladies game with Penwortham Town and Accrington Stanley trip to Morecambe on Saturday, September 30, both were postponed while Fleetwood Town Wrens lost 3-1 to Haslingden who move into a congested fourth place.

In the FA Cup Workington Reds Ladies lost 1-2 to Penrith AFC Ladies in the Second Qualifying Round and the side meet in the league on Sunday, October 8, when the Reds head to Penrith.

After the men’s teams met on Saturday Carlisle United Ladies host Bolton Wanderers while Fleetwood Town head to Accrington Stanley, Morecambe play Haslingden and leader Preston North End head to Penwortham Town.

In Division One South Runcorn moved back into the top three with a 6-0 home win against Northwich Vixens as only two games were played on Sunday, October 1, and Ellesmere Port moved up to eighth with a 2-1 win over Litherland Remyca while Mossley Hills game with Altrincham was postponed.

The top two are not in action on Sunday, October 8, giving Runcorn the chance to go joint top with victory at home to Warrington Town.

Altrincham take on Ellesmere Port, Chester face Hindley and Litherland play Poulton Vics.
