Whitehaven Marina has lit up The Wave in red in memory of their dockmaster who recently passed away – a colleague who will be ‘truly missed’.
Karl White, from Whitehaven, passed away on Saturday, September 23, and was described by his family as a ‘loving son, brother, friend, and the best uncle to his nephews and niece’.
Karl was the dockmaster for Whitehaven Marina, and following his death the old Whitehaven Harbour key watch tower flew its flag at half mast in respect.
Now Whitehaven Marina staff have lit the iconic light Wave installation, this evening October 5, in red, to pay tribute to their colleague and shared on social media that they also lit candles in memory of ‘such a treasured member’ of the team who is ‘truly missed’.
Tributes have poured in for Karl as friends and family share their memories and grief, with many sharing the sentiment that his loss is ‘heartbreaking’.
Karl was a hard worker who even once dove into Whitehaven Harbour and saved a dog’s life with his quick reactions.
