Prestigious Film Festival Grimmfest Starts In Manchester

The Odeon Great Northern, Manchester will play host to four days of movies, Q&As, talks and exclusive events as GRIMMFEST 2023 returns.

Running from Thursday, October 5 to Sunday October 8, GRIMMFEST is a truly independent genre film festival, dedicated and committed to showcasing great movies by both new and established filmmakers from the world of genre cinema.

Tickets can be bought here with single days available.

GRIMMFEST started in 2009 as GRIMM UP NORTH before fans shortened it to GRIMMFEST and is now considered one of the most prestigious festivals of fantastic film in Europe.

Give Me An A anthology of films will receive its English premiere

Priding themselves on premiering the very best in new horror, cult, extreme fantasy, and sci-fi movies.

At present there will be 19 Screening events across four days with 16 feature film premieres and 3 short film programmes titled Nothing Is Real, Where The Heart…. Isn’t and Here Be Monsters.

Presenting the very best in independent genre cinema the festival will host a broad selection of movie premieres on the big screen and as most of the films they screen are yet to be released in the UK, attending GRIMMFEST allows you to see them first before they get released to the general public.

Cramming as many premieres as they can into the four-day festival, with English, UK and Northern premieres be prepared for many hours of movie watching.

I suspect you may well discover your new favourite film. You’ll also get the chance to rate each film you watch, allowing the GRIMMFEST team to identify the Audience favourite, which is presented with an award.

A very welcoming film festival with many regular attendees as well as returning guests.

There is no sense of ‘us and them’ with GRIMMFEST priding themselves on their approachability, and on creating an inclusive, almost family atmosphere.

If you are new to the festival, you’ll quickly make new friends from within the attendees and the extended GRIMMFEST team and volunteers as they are all members of the Horror Community, and this is a chance to get together, swap stories, experience the best of contemporary genre cinema, and socialise.

Everyone is keen to discuss the selected films, often over a beer or food.

Outside of watching movie premieres and re-released genre classics on the big screen, you can also attend film maker and film star Q&As, exclusive parties, meet the film makers, and attend autograph signings.

It’s also a chance to network and socialise with film makers and fellow film enthusiasts.

As with every festival might also fancy perusing the festival hub where you can buy GRIMMFEST merchandise or pick up a bargain from one of the many stalls, which sell a whole variety of horror and cinema related goods, many of which are hand crafted.
