Three Charged In West Cumbria Amid Operation Lantern Car Stops

Three people have been charged with several offences following Cumbria Police car stops in West Cumbria as part of Operation Lantern.

Three people arrested in the early hours of Saturday morning, September 23.

The car was stopped at around 3.35am and the three occupants – two men and a woman – arrested.

All three have now been charged.

Rachel McTaggart, 44, of Newtown Close, Carlisle, has been charged with going equipped for theft and remanded to attend Workington Magistrates’ Court on Monday, September 35.

Charlie Pagan, 21, of Castlerigg Drive, Carlisle, has been charged with going equipped for theft. He has been bailed with a 7pm to 7am curfew to attend Workington Magistrates’ Court on October 23, 2023.

Ashley Queen, 33, of Dunmallet Rigg, Carlisle, has been charged with going equipped. Queen has been remanded to attend Workington Magistrates’ Court on Monday, September 25.

Queen has also been charged with a number of other offences relating to a driving incident in Carlisle on August 18, 2023.

He has been charged with dangerous driving, failing to stop, displaying false number plates and driving without a licence, without insurance and without MOT.

Operation Lantern is the constabulary’s dedicated operation to target rural crime within Cumbria. The operation aims to prevent and disrupt serious and organised rural acquisitive crime that occurs in our county.
