A family shop has continued to support Egremont Christmas Wonderland by donating £200 to the Christmas lights switch-on event.

Wilson’s Butchers – a thriving business in the West Cumbrian town for over 100 years – has donated the money to Egremont Amenity’s Winter Wonderland Weekend, continuing their support since the re-launch of the event in 2012.

In a social media post, the event organisers explained funding the Wonderland is difficult, leading to it becoming a biennial event and have thanked Wilson’s for the ‘substantial amount’ of support they’ve provided.

The event returned in 2022 after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic and this year will take place over the weekend of November 25 and 26 between 9:30am to 4:00pm in Egremont Market Hall.

Over the weekend, along with stalls selling a wide variety of gifts, food and crafts, Father Christmas will be stationed to greet children, for free.
