Two Men Arrested On M6 Part Of Cumbria Police’s Operation Lantern

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of several offences after being stopped on the M6 by Cumbria Police.

Officers part of Cumbria Police’s driver training team, stopped a Land Rover Freelander that was towing a trailer at around 11:18am today, September 21, on the M6 southbound between J42 and J41.

A 33-year-old man from Merseyside have been arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods, driving a vehicle with a proportion of a specified controlled drug over the specified limit, using a motor vehicle on a road without third party insurance and driving whilst disqualified.

A 25-year-old man from Merseyside have been arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods.

Both remain in police custody.

This investigation forms part of Operation Lantern – Cumbria Constabulary’s ongoing response to target rural crime within Cumbria.
