Cumbrian’s Win In North West Women’s Regional Football League As Competition Remains Close

North West Women’s Regional Football League it was a good weekend for the Cumbrian sides as the leagues continue to remain close.

In the Premier Division leaders Tranmere are still clear at the top of the table after the round of games on Sunday, September 10.

In a top of the table clash Tranmere took a 2-1 win over Fleetwood Town while second placed West Didsbury are still three points behind after a 3-1 win at home to Salford City.

Darwen FC are a point behind second in third after a 1-0 win against Crewe Alexandra as Curzon Ashton picked up a 3-0 win against Blackpool FC and Blackburn Community moved up to fifth with a 3-2 win against Bury FC.

There are four league games on Sunday, September 17, with leaders Tranmere hosting Darwen as Curzon Ashton travel to Fleetwood Town, Blackburn Community make the trip to Cheadle Town and Blackpool FC play Crewe Alexandra.

In Division One North it was a good weekend for Cumbria’s sides on Sunday, September 10, as Workington Reds won 2-1 at home to Morecambe while Penrith beat Accrington Stanley 2-1 and Fleetwood Town played out a seven goal thriller with Haslingden.

Fleetwood managed to take it 4-3 to move into fourth in the table.

Leaders Preston North End can go clear with a win at Accrington Stanley on Sunday, September 17, while Fleetwood Town will look to close the gap to second with a victory at Morecambe.

Carlisle United are on the road to Haslingden looking to pick up their first points of the campaign while Workington Reds head to Radcliffe and Penwortham Town welcome Bolton Wanderers.

In Division One South a big win for Wythenshawe put them top of the table on Sunday, September 10.

The 10-0 win against Warrington put them top on goal difference as Runcorn joined them with a 4-3 Ellesmere Port while Northwich lost 6-1 at Hindley.

Two of the top three meet as Runcorn Linnet face Wythenshawe on Sunday, September 17, as St Helens host Litherland.

Fourth placed Poulton Vics will be hoping to close the gap when they head to Northwich, Hindley head to Ellesmere Port, Mossley Hills travel to Warrington Wolves and Altrincham host Chester.
