Mercedes-AMG Petronas Announce Mind As Charity Partner

The Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 team have announced Mind, the mental health charity as it’s new official team charity for 2023-24.

For Mercedes, giving back to wider society and our local area through charity and community work has always been a crucial pillar of the Team’s ethos and culture.

They have worked with many amazing charities over the years and are excited to announce Mind as the Official Team Charity 2023 – 2024.

Mind is the nation’s leading mental health charity, providing advice and support to empower people experiencing mental health problems, while also campaigning to improve services, raise awareness, and promote understanding around mental health issues.

One in four people will experience a mental health problem each year, but many don’t get the help that they need.

Mind is fighting to change that.

Sarah Hughes, CEO of Mind, said: “We are delighted that Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team has chosen to support Mind as their next charity partner.

“The fall-out from the coronavirus pandemic, combined with the current cost-of-living crisis, is having a devastating effect on our mental health, especially for those of us with existing mental health problems.

“It is so important in these incredibly challenging times that we can all get the mental health support we need when we need it.

“The funds and awareness generated through this partnership will help us to continue to provide advice, information, and support, including through services like the Mind Infoline and Side by Side, so that no one has to face a mental health problem alone.

“It will also allow us to campaign for change so that everyone is treated fairly, positively and with respect.

“We are excited to work with Mercedes over the coming months and to see what we can achieve for mental health.”

As the Official Charity Partner, a key focus of the relationship will be to raise vital funds, helping Mind to continue the incredible work they do to support those with mental health problems.

Much of the fundraising for their Official Charity Partner is completed by team members through a vast range of activities.

In the Mercedes 2023 Sustainability Report, published in July, further details on the Charity and Community Programme, including a wrap-up of the partnership with Alzheimer’s Research UK can be found.

Alzheimer’s Research UK were the Official Team Charity from July 2020 to December 2022 and are the UK’s leading dementia research charity.

During the partnership, Mercedes raised over £144,000 to support their work, £94,000 of which was raised directly by team members and over £50,000 through indirect activities such as auctions and the donation of memorabilia.

It was also an eye-opening collaboration, enabling the team to learn more about dementia, the misconceptions surrounding the disease, and the steps they can take to look after their brain health.
