Andrea Buggy Women’s League: Stanwix Bees Claim Second Final

The second of the Andrea Buggy Women’s Summer finals between Stanwix Bees and Allerdale Wildcats ended with victory for Stanwix after extra time.

In the Summer Trophy final at Workington Town RLFC’s Fibrus Community Stadium Stanwix Junior Ladies took on Allerdale Wildcats on Wednesday, August 23.

Allerdale Wildcats’ Beatrix Barber opened the scoring for the Wildcats, around the 25 minute mark in the first half before Ellie Webber equalised for Stanwix.

Anna Helliwell put Stanwix in front 5 mins into the second half and Barber struck again to double her tally for Allerdale Wildcats to make it 2-2.

The match ended that way in normal time to take the final into extra time.

In a heartbreaking moment for Allerdale Wildcats after opening the scoring, Holly Currie put Stanwix ahead in the first half of extra time and sealed a 3-2 win.

In the final game of the Andrea Buggy Summer League Whitehaven AFC Ladies Yellow take on Abbeytown Ladies at Workington AFC’s Borough Park on Wednesday, August 30, with the match kicking off at 7:15pm (19:15).
