Man Charged After Cumbria Police Seize Drugs Worth £10K In M6 Stop

A man has been charged after Cumbria Police stopped him and seized drugs worth £10,000.

Barry Simmons, from Merseyside, has been charged after officers stopped a vehicle on the M6 near Tebay yesterday morning, August 15.

Police seized 10kg of Amphetamine, 20 blocks of Cannabis resin and 675g of suspected Mephedrone from the vehicle, with a combined street value of over £100,000.

The 40-year-old has been charged with possession with intent to supply Amphetamine and possession with intent to supply Cannabis.

The seizure forms part of Operation Alliance – Cumbria Constabulary’s ongoing response to protect the county against serious and organised crime.

Simmons appeared before Barrow Magistrate’s Court today and has been remanded into custody until his next hearing at Carlisle Crown Court in September.
