Cumbria Cricket League: Weather Plays Havoc With Revised Targets Changing Matches

The weather played its part in the Cumbria Cricket League as games were changed as revised targets

The Premier Division title looks like it will be going to the north or south after the round of games on Saturday, August 5.

Carlisle are three points clear at the top after a reduced overs win against Millom.

Having won the toss the home side put Millom into bat with Thomas Wilkinson making 27 as they finished on 116 from 34 overs.

Marc Brown top scored with 59 as Carlisle reached 118.

Furness came out on top at Workington as second and third met, putting the home side into bat Callum Sutton scoring 103 as they finished on 198 from 43 overs.

Set a revised target Furness scored 172 with Ryan Griffiths making 51 as they kept pace with Carlisle.

Cockermouth travelled to Egremont and batting first with Gareth White making 67 as the visitors declared on 147.

The weather then played it’s part reducing the target to 79 and Matthew Hunter scored 31 as Egremont made it over the line.

Keswick hosted Cleator who put the home side into bat with Paul Hindmarch making 99 not out as Keswick finished on 227.

Things didn’t go well for Cleator as they were bowled out for 98.

Wigton won the toss at Lindal Moor and put the home side into bat with Lindal making 140 from 35 overs.

Kieran Little made 54 as Wigton reached 141.

One game fell to the weather as Haverigg and Whitehaven was abandoned.

On Saturday, August 12, Carlisle head to Wigton as Furness host Haverigg while Workington travel to Cockermouth.

Cleator play Egremont, Millom welcome Keswick and Whitehaven welcome Lindal Moor.

The lead of Division One has changed hands after the round on August 5.

Dalton have jumped to the top of the table after beating Vickerstown.

Winning the toss Dalton put the home side Vickerstown into bat making 196 with Gareth Benson scoring 75.

In reply Dalton made 198 with Tony Butler’s 80 and Daniel Sharpe’s 72 helping the side to victory.

Ulverston lost at home Seascale as the weather affected the match.

Batting first Seascale made 113 from 46 overs with Adam Brown making 77 before Jack Barwise and Reece Robinson took 5 wickets each to dismiss Ulverston for 49.

Furness 2nd batted first against Hawcoat Park making 185 with Jordan Buchanan scoring 52.

Chasing Hawcoat were bowled out for 58.

Cockermouth 2nd won the toss and put visitors Workington 2nd into bat with Nick Wood scoring 44 as they were dismissed for 137.

Set a reduced target Cockermouth made 106 to win.

The match between Millom 2nd and Kirkby in Furness was abandoned.

On August 12 Hawcoat Park face Dalton while Ulverston head to Vickerstown as Millom travel to Seascale and Furness make the trip to Workington.

Kirkby in Furness and Cockermouth fell to the weather.

In Division Two Whitehaven 2nd beat Egremont 2nd as Haverigg 2nd lost to Barrow on August 5.

Batting first Egremont were bowled out for 111 as Lee Cruden made 41 before Whitehaven were set 75 to win.

Kian Larmour made 50 as they finished on 77 to extend their lead at the top.

Barrow were put into bat by Haverigg with Jonah Lowes’ 76 taking them to 193.

Haverigg then ran out of overs finishing on 110.

Dalton 2nd won the toss and put Lindal Moor 2nd into bat with Dave Mansergh making 121 and Kanha Kukreti scoring 74 as they finished on 226.

Dalton were bowled out for 98.

Ulverston 2nd conceded their game to Cleator 2nd.

Whitehaven can take another step toward the title and promotion on August 12 when they head to Haverigg.

Egremont host Cleator as Dalton play Barrow and Lindal Moor welcome Ulverston.
