In the heart of Whitehaven, a small but thriving 3D printing and art business has been capturing the hearts of locals and visitors alike.
Cheryl Lall, the creative force behind Paw Prints 3D, has turned her passion for art and love for animals into a successful venture, leaving paw prints of joy and cherished memories in the lives of pet owners.
Speaking exclusively to The Herdwick News, Cheryl explained her artistic journey began at a young age, fueled by an innate love for creativity.
She said: “I’ve always been very artistic and have always loved drawing and painting. I even remember making little models out of plaster of Paris when I was young! It’s just always been something I’ve loved and continued with in some way or another.”
An animal lover through and through, Cheryl’s affection for dogs in particular held a special place in her heart. The fusion of her adoration for dogs and artistic expression found its perfect outlet through 3D printing.
Cheryl fondly recalled: “I’m a huge lover of animals myself, especially dogs, and when I got into 3D printing it allows me to combine my love of dogs and art.
“It was actually my Dad that encouraged me to try out painting people’s pets, and although hesitant anyone would actually buy them, I gave it a try, and within an hour of putting my first advert out I had my first order, and I’ve never looked back since.”
What began as a tentative exploration soon evolved into a thriving business. The initial plan was to have a temporary presence in the Whitehaven marketplace, in the former sweet shop but has blossomed into more.
The 32-year-old explained: “It was only meant to be a pop-up shop for a month or two, we’ve been so successful I’m able to keep it open. My aim is to make it till the end of the year but I’m just taking each month at a time and seeing how things go.”
Inside her charming shop, an array of meticulously hand-crafted gifts stand as a testament to Cheryl’s dedication.

She said: “I have a wide range of gifts available! Everything from cushions, keyrings, ornaments, and soft toys. I try to make everything I have unique or different, whilst providing a good variety so we have something to suit everyone.
“The majority of my items are all hand-made, but I do stock a few other pieces too that I think might appeal to my customers.”
Cheryl’s artistic prowess shines bright when she captures the essence of animals on canvas. Her passion currently lies in bringing to life on the canvas one of Britain’s favourite breeds.
“I love painting any animal but staffies are always a favourite and I’ve now painted over 300 of them,” she explained, “I’ll always have a soft spot for German shepherds as I have one myself, but I also love getting the more unusual requests. I’ve done everything from pigs to horses, rabbits to bats.”
Looking ahead, Cheryl’s dreams are as vibrant as her creations. “I would love my shop to continue to be successful and stay open permanently, whilst continuing to expand my reach online too,” she said.
Paw Prints 3D stands as a testament to the power of pursuing one’s passions and turning them into a fulfilling and prosperous venture.
