New Raffle Site Cloud Competitions Aspires To Support Cumbrian Businesses And Communities

By Rachael Grealish

Cloud Competitions, a new raffle website, is dedicated to benefiting the local community, with a focus on reinvesting profits and supporting local businesses.

Although there are several competition websites in Cumbria this platform has made a commitment to sourcing prizes locally and supporting the local community.

By purchasing from local businesses instead of larger corporations, the platform aims to contribute to the local economy and address the rising costs of living – as even their first competition is free to enter.

Speaking to The Herdwick News, George Bean, one of Cloud Competitions’ founders, explained the website is in its final stages of completion, undergoing necessary checks and legal procedures before going live. But also the team is excited about the potential to make a positive impact on lives and support the local community.

He said: “When we hit the drawing board, our goal was to achieve something that doesn’t just benefit ourselves, but that also helps others in our local community. Business can bring greed to strive and survive but that is the opposite of our near future plans.”

Cloud Competitions aspires to create a ‘sense of community’ and enjoyment while promoting responsible gambling practices, as George explained: “Our plan is to source and buy local, keeping everything we do locally. Why give large companies nationwide our funds for prizes when that can help a local business selling the same product?

“We already have a few local businesses on board ready to work alongside us helping us source the prizes we need for raffles. With the ever-rising prices of energy and cost of living post covid, we need to help our locals as much as we can.

“As a business what we aspire to achieve is a sense of community again, with also having fun and chances to win great prizes.”

Some of the companies already signed up include:

  • Brooks Whitehaven
  • Jenna’s Dog Grooming
  • Elite Pet Feed & Animal Supplies
  • The Pour House
  • I.T Fine Detailing LTD

Looking ahead, Cloud Competitions plans to sponsor local individuals, and activities, and contribute to local charities. The platform envisions a future where it can make a significant difference beyond its own success.

As the launch date approaches, in approximately the next 7-10 days (TBC), the team eagerly anticipates embarking on a transformative journey that will bring lasting benefits to individuals and the community as a whole.

George left off by saying: “The future of Cloud Competitions is bright and we cannot wait to get started.”
