Footway improvement works on Warwick Road will commence today meaning there may be some disruption to residents and businesses.
The improvements will be carried out on the south side of the footway on Warwick Road, between The Beehive and Brunton Crescent from this morning, Monday, July 17.
To enable the council to complete the improvement works safely it will be necessary to install a multiple-phase traffic management plan for the duration of the works.
- Phase 1: Monday 17 July to Friday 21 July – stop/go traffic management from The Beehive to the Carlisle United Club Shop
- Phase 2: Monday 24 July to Friday 4 August – a temporary three-way traffic light system will be installed at the junction of Warwick Road and Greystone Road; the permanent traffic signals will be switched off during this time.
During Phase 2 there will be no access from Brunton Crescent onto Warwick Road.
Cumberland Council will also be working in conjunction with Northern Gas Networks throughout Phase 2, which will be utilising the council’s traffic management plan, to remove the need for a further traffic restriction at a later date.
There may be some disruption at times for residents and businesses, and the council are asking that the community find alternative parking. If residents or businesses require access to their property, we kindly request that this is discussed with the Traffic Marshal who will be on-site during the works.
Cumberland Council has thanked the community for their ‘continued support and patience while improvements are made to the road network’ and offered apologises for any inconvenience.
