Cumbria Cricket League: Weather Decimates League Fixtures

The weather decimated the Cumbria Cricket League fixtures as the Premier Division got started before the rain hit.

There is no change to the Premier Division table as the rain stopped play on Saturday, July 8.

Leaders Furness welcomed Millom who they put into bat with Graham Dawson and Callum High making 30 as they were bowled out for 154 before the match was abandoned.

Both Carlisle and Cockermouth managed to by before the weather hit.

Cockermouth won the toss and batted first with opener Gareth White scoring 50, Alex Grainger hitting 80 and Ryan Carruthers reaching 53 as they stopped on 218 at 44 overs.

Carlisle will be the happier of the pair after being reduced to 51 for 4 wickets.

Workington had one eye on the weather as they declared on 235 with Davis Mills on 106 at home to Cleator who made 24.

Keswick were put into bat by Lindal Moor and like Workington declared on 288 after Will Atkinson made 43, James Benson 72, Ben Sharp 33, Paul Hindmarch 38, Risith Upamal 53 and Glen Weightman 28 as the match was abandoned.

At Egremont the visiting Haverigg win the toss and batted first with Umar Waheed scoring 37 and Joe Harvey 32 as they were bowled out for 150 with Jack Thompson taking 4 wickets for 7 runs.

Before the match was abandoned Owen Wilford and Vathsal Govind helped take Egremont to 33.

Wigton won the toss and batted first at Whitehaven with Kieran Little making 32 and Lewis Little 37 as they were bowled out for 133.

Chase Young made 36 as Whitehaven finished on 60.

With a better forecast for Saturday, July 15, Furness head to Cleator, Carlisle travel to Lindal Moor and Workington make the trip to Egremont.

Haverigg host Keswick, Millom face Whitehaven and Wigton take on Cockermouth.

Division One returns to action on Saturday, July 15, as the fixtures are reversed.

Joint leaders Millom 2nd head to seventh placed Cockermouth 2nd while fellow leaders Ulverston travel to fourth placed Furness 2nd.

Third placed Dalton make the trip to eighth placed Workington 2nd.

Fifth plays sixth as Hawcoat Park face Seascale and the bottom two face off as tenth placed Kirkby in Furness look to over take ninth placed Vickerstown.

Unbeaten Whitehaven 2nd will look to continue their march to the Division Two title on Saturday, July 15, when they host second placed Haverigg 2nd.

Egremont 2nd head to Ulverston 2nd looking to close the gap to the top and possibly take second placed.

Barrow host Lindal Moor 2nd and Dalton 2nd face Cleator 2nd.
