The Temple of Speed, Monza, never disappoints and for the F1 Academy it lived up to it’s promise as Marta García and Léna Bühler won.
PREMA Racing’s Spanish driver Marta García claimed an eventful Race 1 while ART Grand Prix’ Léna Bühler took Race 2.

Race 1 Winner, Marta García said: “The race was quite tough. The Safety Car restart was ok, I took a bit of a gap but in this track with the slipstream, it is quite tricky to stay P1 unless you are super-fast.
“I defended a lot in the race, even if it was only for seven laps, but it was one of the toughest six laps I’ve ever had. It was really really close on the finish line, and I was like ‘am I P1 or P2.’, but I am very happy with it.”
The Spaniard got an excellent start heading into Turn 1 with Bühler moving ahead of Rodin Carlin’s Abbi Pulling into P2.
A collision further down the field saw Chloe Grant’s ART Grand Prix car overturned, causing a red flag.
The British driver was taken for checks at the medical centre and released without any major injuries, she was later withdrawn from Race 2.
The race resumed at 1:15pm (13.15) behind the Safety Car with García in the lead, ahead of Bühler and Pulling.
Pulling committed round the outside at Turn 1, taking the inside line on the exit to overtake the Swiss driver. However, Bühler would battle back and reclaim the spot by the first Lesmo corner.
The front three were split by only 0.6s entering Lap 3, with all three now battling for the lead.
Further down the field, Hamda Al Qubaisi, who started from the pitlane after she was unable to get away from her grid spot on the formation lap, was working her way up the field.
The Emirati driver, Al Qubaisi delivered a move on Campos Racing’s Lola Lovinfosse to claim ninth.
With the top three now locked in a fight for the lead, two more cars joined the pack as Rodin Carlin’s Megan Gilkes and Jessica Edgar saw an opportunity to take advantage of the battling ahead.
The top five were soon only split by 1.1s as both Gilkes and Edgar looked to overtake teammate Pulling on Lap 5.
As the race entered its final lap all three podium positions were up for grabs, and the top five continued to tussle as they headed towards the Curva Alboreto and the chequered flag.
In the battle for third, Edgar would power round the outside of her teammate Pulling to take her first podium since Round 1 by just 0.006s.
Meanwhile at the front, Buhler would go for the same move, but Garcia’s straight line speed saw her hold out for the win by just 0.009s.

Léna Bühler held off PREMA Racing’s Bianca Bustamante to take her second win of the season in another action-packed race in Monza.
Race 2 Winner, Léna Bühler said: “I am quite happy. The race was tough, the last few laps Bianca (Bustamante) was really fast behind me and it is very difficult without slipstream. I start in P5 and finish in P1 so it is good points for the title race.”
With Amna Al Qubaisi on pole position on a quest for her third reverse grid win of the season, all the cars got away well.
Nerea Martí, starting second, attempted the overtake on the Emirati driver on Lap 1, but was forced to give the position back after taking the lead off the track.
ART Grand Prix driver Carrie Schreiner, put on a defensive masterclass in Race 2 in Zandvoort, but wasn’t quite able to keep teammate Bühler behind this time around and the Swiss driver moved into third on Lap3.
Hamda Al Qubaisi, who was looking for a strong points-paying result after finishing in eighth in Race 1, came together with Rodin Carlin’s Gilkes and fell to the back of the field.
The MP Motorsport driver was forced into working her way back through the pack for the remainder of the race.
As the pack headed into Turn 1 onto Lap 4, contact between Martí and A. Al Qubaisi left the Campos Racing driver with a piece of her front wing missing and the MP Motorsport driver facing the wrong way.
The Campos Racing driver would slowly fall down the field after sustaining the damage, before receiving a drive through penalty for the incident.
Bühler continued to lead teammate Schreiner, but the German driver would soon come under pressure from the #16 red and white PREMA of Bianca Bustamante car as the Filipino powered round the outside of Curva Alboreto on Lap 5 to move into second.
The powerful slipstream at Monza was once again tricky to navigate, with Bühler unable to breakaway, and Abbi Pulling closing in on the leading pack.
The Rodin Carlin driver set the fastest lap of the race before being getting locked into a four-way battle between Bühler, Schreiner, Bustamante for the race lead.
Schreiner and Pulling would scrap for positions for the rest of the race, with Bustamante briefly taking nipping into the lead ahead of Bühler.
The Filipino driver would have to give the place back to the #7 ART Grand Prix car having made the move off-track.Further down the field, Rodin Carlin’s Gilkes retired from the race and a collision between García and Emely de Heus left the Dutch driver in the gravel and unable to continue.
Lola Lovinfosse would also be forced to retire after receiving a black and orange flag late on.
But despite the persistence of Bustamante, Swiss driver Bühler would hold onto the lead to close the gap on H. Al Qubaisi and García in the driver’s standings.
Pulling secured third having missed out on a podium in Race 1 by just 0.016 seconds.
Pole-sitter A. Al Qubaisi executed a phenomenal recovery drive to cross the line seventh and gain valuable points for MP Motorsport in the Teams’ Standings.
