Cumbria Cricket League: Furness, Millom 2nd And Unbeaten Whitehaven 2nd Top The Tables At Halfway Point

As the Cumbria Cricket League reaches the half way point of the season the Premier Division and Division One are close at both ends of the table.

The top three of the Premier Division all won on Saturday, July 1.

League leaders Furness picked up a big win at home to Cleator.

Batting first the home side made 315 with Yash Dubey scoring 119 with Sam Dutton supporting with 69.

Furness’ bowlers then dismissed Cleator for 49 with Peter Lawson and Samson Storey taking 3 wickets each and Sam Dutton 4.

Second placed Carlisle kept pace with Furness with a win at home to Lindal Moor.

Batting first Michael Slack made 118 with Marc Brown scoring 80 as Carlisle reached 298.

Nico Watt then took 5 wickets for 32 runs as Lindal Moor were bowled out for 83 with Freddie Scrogham scored 33.

A little further back in third Workington beat Egremont to sit 9 points adrift.

Losing the toss Workington were put into bat and Matthew Lowden made 57 to help take them to 160.

Egremont then never got going with Owen Thompson scoring 42 as they were bowled out for 131.

Wigton batted first at Cockermouth and a George Johnston’ 63 helped the visitors to 122.

In reply Wigton’s Christopher Hodgson took 4 wickets with Lewis Little and John Reed taking 3 each as Cockermouth were bowled out for 100.

Winning the toss Keswick put the visitors Haverigg into bat and were bowled out for 125 with Drew Postlethwaite scoring 25.

Keswick were then set a revised target of 118 and with Ben Sharp scoring 43 the home team made 123 in 25 overs.

Making the trip to Whitehaven Millom were put into bat and Madhav Kaushik made 163 with Graham Dawson adding 50 as they made 308 with Chase Young taking 4 wickets for 58 runs.

Chase Young then reached 58 with Asad Shafiq reaching 55 as Whitehaven were bowled out for 252.

The Premier Division continues on Saturday, July 8, with Furness hosting Millom, Carlisle take on Cockermouth and Workington welcome Cleator.

Keswick head to Lindal Moor, Egremont host Haverigg and Wigton travel to Whitehaven.

In the highest scoring game in Division One Dalton won the toss and put the visiting Workington 2nd side in to bat.

Opener Liam Hazzard made 41 with Ryan Clubley adding 53 both Matthew Gorley made an unbeaten 123 to take them to 254.

Dalton got off to a rough start with the loss of an early wicket but Rob Jones’ 125 and Daniel Sharpe 89 took them to 258.

Furness 2nd drop to fourth after a low scoring game at Ulverston.

Winning the toss Furness batted first and were bowled out for 89 with Gareth Smith making 25 as Ben Dryden took 3 wickets for 4 runs and a run out.

Ulverston didn’t hang around taking 17 overs to reach 95 with Jack Dryden 50 as they moved joint top with Millom 2nd.

Millom 2nd join Ulverston at the top after a 4 wicket win at home to Cockermouth 2nd.

Batting first Cockermouth struggled with Andrew Knott’s 29 and Mark Cowen’s 10 not out the only two to make double figures as they Cockermouth were bowled out for 91.

Millom suffered the same fate but Daniel Mackie made 42 and Dominic Connor’s 22 helped take them to 92 with Seth Winter taking 4 wickets for 27 runs.

Seascale welcomed Hawcoat Park and in another low scoring game were beaten by 4 wickets.

Batting first Seascale were bowled out for 68 with Callum Muncaster and Elliot Maxfield taking 5 wickets each.

Chasing Hawcoat Park’s Chris Savage’s 34 and Sam Cunningham’ 22 took them to 72 with Jordan Williams taking 3 wickets for 2 runs.

All wickets fell as Vickerstown got the better of Kirkby in Furness.

Kirkby won the toss and put the home side into bat with John Burns scoring 68 as they made 191.

In reply Kirkby were dismissed for 48.

On July 15, the fixtures are reversed with leaders Millom 2nd heading to Cockermouth 2nd, Ulverston travel to Furness 2nd and Dalton make the trip to Workington 2nd.

Hawcoat Park face Seascale and Kirkby in Furness welcome Vickerstown.

Whitehaven 2nd continue their unbeaten run at the top of Division Two.

On Saturday, July 1, Whitehaven 2nd went to second placed Haverigg 2nd and put the home team into bat.

Joe Harvey made 59 as Haverigg reached 126.

Chasing Nathan Carmichael led from the front with an unbeaten 72 as Whitehaven reached 127.

Barrow won the toss at Lindal Moor and decided to bat with Peter Birtles 92 setting them up as the team reached 217.

Chasing Lindal Moor 2nd fell 39 runs short on 178 with Glyn Caine scoring 78 as Ben Carr took 5 wickets for 13 runs.

Cleator 2nd won the toss and batted first against Dalton 2nd and Cohen Henry made 59 as they were bowled out for 195 with Keith Gilliland taking 4 wickets for 37 runs.

Dalton 2nd never got going as they were dismissed for 59.

Egremont 2nd closed the gap to Haverigg 2nd after Ulverston conceded the match.

Whitehaven 2nd can take another step towards Division One when they host Haverigg 2nd on Saturday, July 15.

Egremont 2nd head to Ulverston 2nd, Barrow host Lindal Moor 2nd and Dalton 2nd face Cleator 2nd.
