Cumbria Police is warning people to lock their cars after a man was charged with theft from cars in Carlisle.
Ryan Hall, of Shaddygrove Road in Carlisle, has been charged with two counts of theft from a vehicle and two counts of vehicle interference after police received reports of a man walking around Carlisle trying car doors.
The 21-year-old was arrested on Sunday, July 2, in connection with offences alleged to have been committed on Abbots Road, Park Road, Rufus Road and Nunnery Close. He was charged with the four offences later that same day.
Hall was charged without bail and is to appear at Carlisle Magistrates’ Court on July 18, 2023.
People are reminded of the importance of making sure their vehicle is locked, particularly overnight, and that no items of any value are left on display in the vehicle.
Anyone who suspects they may have been a victim of a similar crime, or anyone who has CCTV which may assist with this investigation, is asked to come forward.
