The weather might have taken a turn for the worse but that didn’t stop all the action in the Cumbrian Bowls Leagues and the British Isles Internationals.
After winning the National Men’s Triples the Aspatria trio were in action at Ayr, Scotland in the British Isles Championship before the British Isles International.
Eden Valley Mixed Triples
In Division One of the Eden Valley Mixed Triples league Appleby A closed the gap to Fitz Park A with a 9-1 over Fitz Park B on Tuesday, June 27.
Linton moved up to fourth with a 2-8 win at Fitz Park A while Penrith Friars B won 0-10 at Dalston and Lazonby beat Shap 8-2

In Division Two Temple Sowerby’s 2-8 win at Penrith Friars A moved them 8 points behind league leaders Penrith Castle Park who lost 7-3 at Wetheral on Tuesday, June 27.

Eden Valley Mixed Rinks
In Mixed Rinks League Fitz Park A moved back into second with a 8-0 win against Lazonby while Caldbeck kept their momentum going with a 2-6 victory at Penrith Friars on Thursday, June 29.
Fitz Park B won 0-8 at Shap while Temple Sowerby beat Skelton by the same score line and Appleby also won 8-0 at home to Penrith Castle Park.

West Cumbria Mixed Triples League
Three games survived in Mixed Triples on Tuesday, June 27, Harris Park A took full advantage with a 0-9 win at Croft as Workington A almost came unstuck against Egremont as they squeezed 5-4.
Seascale took a 7-2 home win against Vulcan Park.

The top two in the West Cumbria Fours were due to meet on Friday, June 30 but will rearrange the fixture.
The other games went ahead with Fitz Park closing the game to the top two with a 5-2 win against Workington B.
Cleator Moor’s 5-2 win over Vulcan Park and Maryport’s 4-3 win against Seaton put the pair in joint fourth while Cockermouth took a 3-4 win at Whitehaven B.

International Tournament
Cumbria’s National Mens Triples Champions were involved in the British Isle Championship
Aspatria’s Kevin Harrison, Mark Irwin and Stuart Irwin were joined by the other National Champions in Ayr, Scotland on June, Wednesday 28 and Thursday 29.
On the Wednesday the Cumbrian Trio beat Jersey to take a place in the Thursday final with a 18-19 win.
Facing Ireland in the final the Cumbrians took an early 7-0 lead but the Irish triple fought back to take the final 17-12.
Kevin Harrison and Stuart Irwin stayed on to join the British Isle International and the England Eagles team where the pair would take part in the pairs.
The duo would face Ireland on Friday, July 30, where they picked up an 18-14 win but the team would go down 59-60.
On Saturday, July 1, the pair faced Scotland and again won this time 18-12 and another agonising 50-51 team defeat.
On the final day Sunday, July 2, the boys were back in action facing Jersey and sadly it wasn’t to be as they were held to a 14-14 draw as the team won 84-41.
