Cumbria Police Arrest Man While Investigating Barrow Fire

Cumbria Police has arrested a man as part of their investigation into a Barrow fire in June.

A 30-year-old man from Barrow has been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life – this is part of an investigation into a fire at multiple properties at the intersection of Salthouse Road and Marsh Street in Barrow-in-Furness.

The man has since been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Emergency services received the report at around 5pm on Thursday 22 June.

Eight properties were affected, and 13 properties evacuated for the residents’ safety. No one was injured during the incident

Investigations are ongoing into the circumstances of the fire and officers are continuing their appeal for information into the incident.

Officers are appealing for anyone with dashcam who were in the area at the time. CCTV or who witnessed the incident is asked to contact police if they have not done so already.
