Major Carlisle employers have joined forces to showcase opportunities for work and training in the city.
The Carr’s Engineering Skills Academy in association with Lakes College will be open to the public on Wednesday, July 5, to allow budding apprentices to meet employers including Bendalls Engineering, TEAM, Inc., Mitchell Dryers and Tweddle Engineering.
No booking is required and anyone interested can simply drop in between 3pm and 7pm for a tour of the facilities at the academy, which is based at Bendalls on Kingstown Broadway in Carlisle.

The open day will offer the opportunity to speak face-to-face with employers, learn about current apprenticeship vacancies,and sign up for the Lakes College Apprenticeship Academy to help candidates apply for the right opportunities.

Gary Martin, director of STEM and apprenticeships at Lakes College, said: “An apprenticeship is a superb way to get the career you want by earning while you learn.

The Carr’s Engineering Skills Academy has been designed to train the next generation of workers in engineering and business and launched by Lakes College and Bendalls Engineering, part of the Carr’s Engineering Group, in partnership.
A purpose-built classroom and shopfloor training facility has been created at the site and fitted with the latest equipment to provide learners with an optimal environment to learn.
Apprenticeship opportunities are available in areas including welding and fabrication, engineering fitting, mechanical and electrical maintenance, machining, engineering design and business services,.
