A Carlisle clinic has launched a campaign to get people talking about incontinence along with a free taster of breakthrough treatment.
VL Aesthetics has launched its #WeeShouldTalk campaign to mark World Continence Week to encourage both men and women to talk about the issue more openly with friends and family, as well as having the confidence to raise it with health care professionals.

It is estimated that up to six million people have problems with incontinence and yet it is an issue that is rarely discussed.
Vanessa Brown, owner of VL Aesthetics, said: “The #WeeShouldTalk campaign is an opportunity for women and men to have the confidence to reach out and discuss the issues they are experiencing.
“Often people find it hard to speak to those closest to them, so we at VL Aesthetics are encouraging individuals that are suffering to speak to a professional as incontinence isn’t something you need to endure, there is help available.”
As part of the campaign, VL Aesthetics, which is a regulated medical clinic, is offering demonstrations and the opportunity to experience its revolutionary Emsella chair for a free ten minute trial during World Continence Week this week (19 – 23 June 2023).
VL Aesthetics has invested in the breakthrough pelvic floor treatment, which strengthens pelvic floor muscles and treats urinary leakage in both women and men, a topic which the clinic is keen to encourage people to talk more openly about.
According to the NHS, one in three women over 35 are suffering with bladder weakness, many of whom are suffering in silence, believing they are alone and it’s just something they must put up with.
Ageing, childbirth, menopause and changes in weight can contribute to the weakening of the pelvic floor muscles.
This can lead to the pelvic floor insufficiently supporting the pelvic organs and a consequent reduction in bladder control.
The Emsella chair is a non-invasive treatment that simply requires you to sit on the chair while it generates thousands of supramaximal pelvic floor muscle contractions.
Generally, clients require six sessions, and with a 95 percent success rate in restoring pelvic floor strength leaking during coughing, sneezing or exercise is dramatically improved or even eliminated.
All procedures are carried out with a nurse.
During the 30 minute session, you remain fully clothed, and the most you will feel is a slight tingling during the treatment.
With no recovery time needed, you can leave immediately after each session and resume normal daily activity, comfortable in the knowledge over a course of treatment, the pelvic floor will be strengthened resulting in much improved bladder control.
One of VL Aesthetics clients who has had the treatment said: “I’ve now had four treatments on the Emsella chair, and it’s already made such a difference.
“I was stuck in a traffic jam for three hours this week and it wasn’t an issue. No more getting up in the night for a toilet trip either.”
Demonstrations along with free taster Emsella sittings will be held throughout World Continence week which begins on Monday, June 19.
