Cumbria Cricket League’s Professional Players Shine

The professional players in the Cumbria Cricket League showed the value they add to their teams with incredible performances.

Carlisle are two points clear at the top of the Premier Division after their successful run chase.

Batting first Wigton’s George Johnston made 68 as they were bowled out for 150.

In reply Carlisle’s opening pair of James Dawson 34 and Marc Brown 44 set the platform for the team to make 151.

Second placed Workington bounced back against Cockermouth as the visitors won the toss and decided to bat.

Workington bowler Ben Scott ripped through Cockermouth’s batters taking 5 wickets for 7 runs as Joshua Brown’s 28 helped the side recover from 9 for 7 to finish on 86.

The home side struggled as they were reduced to 31 for 5 as Kristian Moffat’s 33 helped take them to 91.

Free scoring Furness were back at it as Yash Dubey scored 58 as they made 247 at Haverigg.

In reply Drew Postlethwaite’s 39 and Kieran Rohan’s 35 were not enough as Haverigg were bowled out for 123 with Faizan Ghumman taking 5 wickets for 24 runs.

Millom’s professional Punit Bisht took them to 326 after Scott Mcgown and Risith Upamal took quick wickets to reduce them to 46 for 3.

Bisht then made an unbeaten 213 with Graham Dawson making 82.

Chasing Keswick were bowled out for 175 with Stephen Hindmarch making 37.

Egremont lost the toss and were put into bat by Cleator who quickly removed their opening pair and Vathsal Govind then went on to make 101 as Egremont finished on 193.

In reply Cleator were bowled out for 169 with Abdul Muzammil scoring 32.

Lindal Moor won the toss and batted first at home to Whitehaven setting the visitors 110 as they were bowled out.

Terance Warde’s 42 not out helped lead Whitehaven in a successful chase as they made 114.

Carlisle head to Whitehaven on Saturday, June 3, second placed Workington host Haverigg, Furness welcome Lindal Moor, Millom face Egremont, Keswick travel to Wigton and Cockermouth take on Cleator.

There were two big scoring games in Division One on Saturday, May 27, as Furness made 310 with Subhan Shirzad making 86 and Luke Shaw 81 not out with Workington 2nd Sam Holt taking 4 wickets for 45 runs.

Sam Holt then stared with the bat making 73 as Workington fell short on 217 as Samson Storey took 4 wickets for 68.

Seascale’s trip to Millom 2nd was a high scoring affair as Seascale’s Adam Brown made 163 as the team finished on 311 for 6.

Fred Mcverry added 63 runs to his 2 wickets along with Cade Heavyside making 52 as Millom were bowled out for 208.

Kirkby in Furness won the toss at Cockermouth and put the hosts into bat.

Seth Winter made 102 as Cockermouth were bowled out for 240 with Paul Fugler and Mike Fugler both took 4 wickets.

In reply Paul Fugler made 69 as Kirkby fell short on 182 as Seth Winter took 4 wickets for 47.

Ulverston won the toss and batted first with Ben Dryden scoring 66 and Stuart Copper 83 as they were dismissed for 259 with George Scott and Lee McKenna taking 3 wickets each.

Stuart Cooper then went and took 4 wickets as Vickerstown were bowled out for 97 with Gareth Benson scoring 42.

League leaders Dalton batted first at home to Hawcoat Park and found themselves in trouble at 94 for 6 wickets lost as Daniel Sharpe scored 88 to help them recover to 180 all out.

Daniel Sharpe then took 5 wickets as Hawcoat Park were bowled out for 137 with Craig Daly falling short of his half century on 46.

The top two meet on Saturday, June 3, as Dalton host Ulverston, Furness travel to Kirkby in Furness, Vickerstown face Millom, Seascale take on Cockermouth and Hawcoat Park welcome Workington.

Whitehaven 2nd are top of Division Two after Barrow conceded their match.

On Saturday, May 27, Egremont 2nd travelled to Cleator 2nd where they won the toss and batted first.

Lee Cruden made 57 with Cohen Henry 37 and Stephen Stamper 38 as Egremont reached 191 for 9 with Ethan Messenger, Charles Whitfield Bott, Alan Wishart and Jordan Martin all taking 2 wickets.

Chasing Ethan Messenger made 59 not out as they ran out of overs to finish in 146 for 8 as Ryan Byrne and Lee Cruden both took 3 wickets.

Sunday May 28 Lindal Moor 2nd won the toss and batted first at home to Haverigg 2nd.

Billy Hughes’ 57 helped the side to 120 for 4 off their 40 overs as Zac Mawdsley took 3 wickets.

Zac Masdsley then top scored with 49 as Haverigg made 121.

Winning the toss Ulverston 2nd decided to bat first against Dalton 2nd with Partha Singh scoring 46 as they reached 142 from their 40 overs.

Jos Edwards was in fine form with the bat making 73 not out as Dalton 2nd reached 143 in 23 overs.

On Saturday, June 3, Whitehaven 2nd host Barrow, Egremont 2nd welcome Cleator 2nd and Haverigg 2nd face Lindal Moor 2nd.
