Cumbria Police Launch Investigation After Two Injured In Fire

Cumbria Police has launched an investigation after two people were taken to hospital with ‘serious injuries’ due to a fire in Barrow.

A joint investigation has been launched into a fire that occurred on Storey Square, Barrow after police were contacted by Cumbria Fire and Rescue at around 6pm yesterday, June 1, to the report.

Following the fire on Storey Square, two men were taken to hospital with serious injuries, while a third man was taken to Furness General Hospital for smoke inhalation.

A 57-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life, he remains in police custody, at the time of writing.

A cordon remains in place whilst investigations are ongoing.

Officers are also appealing for dashcam and doorbell footage around the time of the incident.
