Cumbria Police Thank ‘Vigilant’ Public As Man Charged With Knife Possession

Cumbria Police has thanked the “vigilant” members of the public who helped them arrest and charge a man with a knife.

Police attended Market Place in Whitehaven on Tuesday, February 27, following a report that a man was in possession of a knife.

A stop search was conducted by PC 2853 Garrett of the Neighbourhood Policing Team, after further enquiries in the area one man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article by PC Garrett.

The man was charged on Wednesday, February 28, with the offences of possession of a bladed article and resisting arrest.

Cumbria Police said: “Many thanks to the vigilant members of the public who made this known to the Police, we all have a role to play in keeping knives off our streets.”
